Reverse description Lion standing to the right in a vigorous, naturalistic pose, rendered with careful attention to musculature and mane. Above the lion, a triskeles device is flanked by the letters Φ to the left and Ι to the right. The letter Π appears in the lower field beneath the lion. In the exergue, the ethnic legend ΥΕΛΗΤΩΝ is inscribed, identifying the issuing community of Velia. The composition reflects the accomplished die-cutting associated with Velia's skilled engravers of the late Phi-group series.
