| Reverse description | Bare head of the nymph Aigeste (Segesta) facing right, rendered in fine early Classical style with delicately engraved wavy hair bound by a plain fillet across the brow. Loose locks fall to the nape of the neck, with a single curved tress descending before the ear. The facial features are finely modelled with an almond-shaped eye, straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The Greek legend ΣΕΓΕΣΤ – ΑZΙ – Β is distributed around the field, naming the city of Segesta, all enclosed within a shallow incuse circle and a raised border. |
