Obverse description Eagle standing to left with closed wings, rendered in fine archaic style with detailed feathering across the body and folded plumage. The bird is depicted perched, its head turned slightly upward with an open beak, conveying an alert posture. The ethnic legend AKRAGAS is distributed in Greek characters around the figure in the field. The design is boldly struck in high relief characteristic of early Sicilian coinage.
