| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the Bernese bear passant to the left, set against a plain field, with the date 1620 inscribed in the lower portion of the circle. Above the bear, a displayed double-headed imperial eagle with spread wings dominates the upper field. The circumscribed Latin legend MONETA NO BERNENSIS runs around the periphery within a dotted border, referencing the new coinage of Bern. The entire design is contained within the characteristic square klippe flan with serrated edges. |
