Reverse description A pointed helmet (Macedonian-style pilos or conical helmet) depicted facing, set above a rounded shield or cuirass element, rendered in bold relief at the center of the field. The martial emblems are flanked on either side by the Greek royal legend arranged in two vertical columns. The composition is characteristic of Tryphon's bronze coinage and emphasizes his military authority and claim to Seleucid kingship. The flan edges are irregular and the strike is somewhat off-center, typical of hammered bronze issues of this series.
