Obverse description Bare head of the youthful Herakles facing right, surmounted by the scalp of a lion's skin headdress with the paws knotted beneath the chin. The modelling of the face displays a vigorous Hellenistic style, with well-defined features and curling hair visible beneath the leonine cap. The folds and claws of the lion's skin are rendered in careful detail, falling across the neck and shoulder.
