Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing left, wearing a crested Attic helmet with cheek guards; the hair falls in locks beneath the helmet, and the goddess's facial features are rendered in a bold, archaic-influenced style characteristic of Thessalian bronze coinage of the early fourth century BC. The flan is irregular and the relief is strong, with the helmet crest projecting prominently within the field.
