Additional information

The Treveri occupied the Moselle valley in what is now Luxembourg and the German Rhineland, and their silver coinage circulated during a period of intense pressure from Germanic tribes east of the Rhine — the same migrations that Caesar would later cite as justification for his Gallic campaigns. Whether this piece predates direct Roman contact or was struck in its shadow is difficult to say with precision, as the tribe's chronology remains contested among Celtic numismatists.

LT#9383 is among the better-documented Treveran types, catalogued by Sills and cross-referenced in de la Tour's foundational corpus.
