Reverse description Central field displays a cross pattée enclosed within a beaded inner circle, the arms of the cross extending to and touching the inner border, dividing the field into four quarters. A small lozenge or pellet ornament is visible at the center where the arms intersect. The outer legend, separated from the inner circle by a plain border, reads DE - SA - LV - E in four segments between the arms of the cross, referring to the co-lordship of Sauve. The overall design follows the standard feudal denier type of Languedoc in the twelfth century, with characteristic rough hammered fabric.
