Obverse description Central cross pattée with a pellet in each of the four angles, all enclosed within a plain inner circle surrounded by a polylobe (multifoil) border. The circular legend in uncial Latin reads GVILLERMVS, identifying the issuing lord William II of Vierzon. The hammered flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the periphery, typical of mid-13th-century feudal French billon coinage.
