Obverse description Central cross pattée dividing the field into four quarters, each canton containing a pellet. The cross is boldly struck in high relief typical of early Norman hammered coinage. A circular legend surrounds the central device, reading the ruler's name in Roman capitals. The flan is notably irregular and partially flat on the left side, consistent with hand-hammered medieval production.
