Obverse description Central field depicts a standing armed figure in frontal pose, rendered in a schematic Romanesque style characteristic of feudal French deniers; the figure appears robed and bearing a sword or sceptre, set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend, struck in uncial Latin characters, reads W PRICEPS AVRASIC, identifying William, Prince of Orange, as the issuing authority. The die work is typical of hammered medieval coinage, with slightly uneven strike and irregular flan shape.
