Additional information

Vratislaus II governed Olomouc as an appanage duchy under his brother Spytihněv II, a relationship that was frequently hostile — Vratislaus spent part of this period in exile at the Hungarian court of Andrew I before being restored to Olomouc around 1055. These deniers were struck during that uneasy tenure, and their attribution to Olomouc rather than Prague reflects the fragmented minting authority that characterized Přemyslid Bohemia, where appanage princes exercised independent coinage rights within their assigned territories.
