Obverse description Within a double trilobe inner border, a fleur-de-lis and a dolphin are depicted in the field, referencing the dual authority of the French crown and the Dauphiné province. The devices are rendered in a simple, low-relief hammered style typical of small billon coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the trilobe frame.
