Obverse description A plain cross pattee at center, enclosed within a beaded inner circle, dividing the field into four equal quadrants. The cross is boldly struck in the characteristic Tournois style with slightly flared arms. A circular Latin legend surrounds the beaded border, with pellet stops separating the inscription. The overall design is typical of the Capetian royal coinage of the 13th century, struck on an irregularly shaped flan with characteristic hammer-struck surfaces.
