Obverse description Draped bust of Gaston d'Orléans facing right, enclosed within a raised inner circle. The effigy depicts the prince with flowing long hair and visible drapery at the shoulder. A Latin legend encircles the bust in the outer field, reading GAST.PATR.R.VSFR.PR.DOM.A., identifying Gaston as usufructuary and Prince of Dombes. The portrait is rendered in a bold, somewhat rustic style typical of provincial copper coinage of mid-17th-century France.
