Obverse description Central field dominated by a patriarchal cross with beaded arms, flanked symmetrically by crescent moons in the upper and lower quarters and by curved serpentine or scroll ornaments in the lateral fields. A small pellet or globule appears at the center of the cross. Above and below the central motif are horizontal beaded bars. A pattée cross appears at the top of the design and another at the bottom, creating a strongly symmetrical, aniconic composition characteristic of medieval Hungarian hammered coinage. The entire design is contained within an irregular, unstruck border.

Reverse description Central device consisting of a monogram or interlaced letter, most likely a stylised royal cipher or the letter 'S' (for Stephanus), enclosed within a raised beaded or rope-like circular border, all set against a broad, flat and lightly striated field. The design is boldly struck in high relief relative to the surrounding field, with no legend or additional ornament. The stark, unadorned composition is typical of twelfth-century Hungarian royal deniers, where the royal initial served as the principal identifier.
