| Obverse description | Central field displays a stylized cross fleury or cross with foliate terminals, accompanied by a monogram or interlaced device below, all enclosed within a plain inner circle. The surrounding legend, rendered in uncial characters, reads STEBhS EPC, identifying the issuing bishop. The design is executed in the characteristic flat, linear style of northern French episcopal coinage of the late 12th to early 13th century. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, as typical of hammered billon deniers of this period. |
