Obverse description Frontal effigy of Duke Spitignew II enthroned, depicted in a highly stylized Romanesque manner, holding a lance or sceptre upright in his right hand and an orb or globus cruciger in his left. The figure is rendered in bold relief characteristic of mid-11th century Bohemian hammered coinage. The Latin legend SPITCMEV DUX surrounds the central device, distributed across the field in the manner typical of early Přemyslid deniers. A plain inner border separates the legend from the outer rim.
