Sobeslaus I consolidated Přemyslid power after defeating Holy Roman Emperor Lothair III's forces at the Battle of Chlumec in 1126, a victory that secured Bohemian autonomy and gave him the political stability to maintain a consistent coinage. Cach 583a falls within his fifteen-year reign, a period unusually productive for Bohemian deniers relative to the reigns immediately preceding it.
Bohemian deniers of this period were struck on irregularly shaped flans, a persistent feature of the Prague mint's output through the twelfth century.
