Reverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a crowned frontal bust of Saint Wenceslas, patron saint of Bohemia, depicted in the Romanesque style with schematic drapery folds and a crown rendered in low relief. The saint is shown holding a lance or standard in one hand, a characteristic iconographic attribute associated with his martyrdom and veneration. The surrounding legend S WENCEZLAVS identifies the holy patron, running around the periphery of the flan. The overall execution reflects the primitive but expressive engraving typical of twelfth-century Bohemian hammered silver coinage.
