Additional information

Sobeslaus I consolidated Přemyslid authority after defeating and capturing the German-backed claimant Otto II of Olomouc at the Battle of Chlumec in 1126 — a victory that secured his reign and gave him unusual political stability for a Bohemian duke of this period. His coinage reflects that confidence. Deniers attributed to his rule show more consistent silver content than those of many contemporaries, though the Cach sequence for this type spans nearly fifteen years and almost certainly encompasses multiple die generations from the Prague mint.
