Reverse description Castle tournois depicted in the centre of the field, rendered in the conventional stylised manner of 13th-century French feudal deniers, with a crosslet in the middle of the structure and flanked by two pellets on either side. The design closely follows the Tournois type introduced under the Capetian monarchy. A Latin legend surrounds the central device between two beaded circles, reading CASTRIDVNI, the Latinised form of Châteaudun, identifying the place of issue.
