Obverse description A plain pattee cross occupies the central field, set within a plain inner circle. The surrounding annular band is decorated with a continuous arrangement of small pellets and wedge-shaped ornaments in relief. The circular Latin legend runs between the inner circle and the outer beaded border, interrupted by a small annulet. The overall style is characteristic of early Capetian hammered coinage, with bold, slightly irregular relief.
