Obverse description Crude draped bust of Count Raymond IV facing right, rendered in the Romanesque style typical of southern French feudal coinage of the late 11th century. The effigy is enclosed within a plain inner circle, surrounded by an outer border of raised pellets interspersed with cross-pattée or star-shaped ornaments. The portrait is schematic in execution, with a beaded crown or diadem visible atop the head and a sceptre or staff suggested before the face. The legend RAIMVNDVS runs within the outer field, partially visible between the ornamental border elements.
