| Obverse description | Crude draped bust of Count Raymond IV facing right, rendered in the Romanesque style typical of southern French feudal coinage of the late 11th century. The effigy is enclosed within a plain inner circle, surrounded by an outer border of raised pellets interspersed with cross-pattée or star-shaped ornaments. The portrait is schematic in execution, with a beaded crown or diadem visible atop the head and a sceptre or staff suggested before the face. The legend RAIMVNDVS runs within the outer field, partially visible between the ornamental border elements. |
