Obverse description Central field displays the Hungarian royal arms — a quartered shield combining the Árpád stripes and the apostolic double cross — set within a beaded inner circle. The mint mark K-B (for Körmöcbánya/Kremnica) flanks the shield to left and right respectively. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design, reading RVD•II•RO•I•S•AV•G•H•B•R, abbreviated from Rudolphus II Romanorum Imperator Semper Augustus Germaniae Hungariae Bohemiae Rex. The lettering is punched in a characteristic late-16th-century hammered style with pellet stops separating the abbreviated titulature.

Reverse description Central field depicts the Virgin Mary as Patrona Hungariae, shown facing forward as a crowned Madonna holding the Christ Child before her, set within a beaded inner circle. The date appears in the legend divided around the central motif. A Latin circumscription reads PATR • 1596 • HVNG, invoking the Virgin as Patroness of Hungary. The image is rendered in the typical compact, stylised manner of late-16th-century Hungarian hammered deniers, with irregular flan edges characteristic of hand-struck coinage.
