Obverse description Central field dominated by a large monogram composed of the letters R and F, rendered in bold relief in the characteristic Carolingian monogram style, referencing Rex Francorum (King of the Franks). A horizontal bar appears above the monogram, and the entire design is enclosed within a border of raised pellets arranged around the coin's irregular circumference. Additional small symbols or letters flank the central monogram on either side. The die-cutting is typical of early Carolingian hammered coinage, with uneven flan preparation and pronounced letter forms.
