Reverse description Central cross within a small beaded inner circle, surrounded by a double beaded border. The mint name VERONA is distributed across the four quadrants formed by the arms of the cross, rendered as VE, AN, RO across the divided field in three abbreviated segments, a layout characteristic of Ottonian Verona deniers. The lettering is bold and deeply struck, with the letters reading in a mixed arrangement around the central motif. The flan is irregular with slight flan cracks at the edge, consistent with hand-hammered production of the period.
