| Obverse description | Crude facing bust of Duke Otto I in the central field, rendered in low relief in the Romanesque style typical of early 13th-century German bracteate-influenced coinage. The effigy displays schematic facial features with a broad forehead and simplified crown or headgear indicated by raised elements. The surrounding field is decorated with a border of small cross or star ornaments arranged at intervals around the periphery, characteristic of Meranean denier coinage of this period. The flan is irregular and slightly cupped, the result of hand-hammered production. |

| Reverse description | A large, bold architectural arch or horseshoe-shaped element dominates the central field, flanked on the right by two vertical bars or columns with pellets, likely representing a stylized gateway or castle motif associated with the Duchy of Merania. The left side of the field contains foliate or interlace decoration with pellets, rendered in a crude but vigorous Romanesque manner. An outer raised ring border frames the composition near the irregular edge of the flan. The entire design is struck in low relief on a thin, irregularly shaped silver flan consistent with hammered medieval penny production. |
