Obverse description Facing bust of Duke Ordulf rendered in crude, stylized relief characteristic of mid-11th-century Saxon bracteate-influenced coinage. The effigy displays a broad, frontal face with schematic facial features beneath a domed crown or helmet with pellet ornaments. The bust is enclosed within a beaded or rope-like inner circle, with the retrograde legend DVX ODDO distributed around the periphery of the flan. The striking is irregular and slightly off-center, typical of hammered Saxon deniers of this period.
