Obverse description Fourfold quartered shield within a beaded inner circle, displaying the Árpád dynastic stripes in the first and fourth quarters, the rampant Bohemian lion in the second quarter, and the Hunyadi crow holding a ring in the third quarter. The shield is rendered in the Gothic heraldic style characteristic of late medieval Hungarian royal coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the central device, reading outward toward the beaded rim.
