Reverse description The reverse presents the incuse mirror image of the obverse design, as is characteristic of bracteate or near-bracteate pfennig coinage of this period. The impression shows the recessed counterpart of the mitred bishop's head and the six-pointed star, the details being less well-defined due to the single-sided striking technique. The thin silver flan exhibits natural flow lines and slight irregularities typical of hand-hammered medieval ecclesiastical coinage from the Bishopric of Basel.
