Obverse description Central field features a stylized monogram of the royal name LVDOVICVS composed of interlaced letters, executed in the flat, schematic Romanesque style characteristic of Capetian feudal coinage. The monogram is enclosed within a plain inner circle, beyond which the surrounding field carries the circular Latin legend. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of 12th-century hammered silver issues, with moderate wear and die-shift evident across the surface.
