Obverse description A central cross with a lozenge at its intersection is enclosed within an inner beaded circle, around which runs an inner legend. An outer legend occupies the peripheral area between the inner and outer circles. The design is characteristic of the Carolingian monogram-type denier tradition, with the cross serving as the dominant central motif.
