Reverse description Central device depicts a stylized temple or church facade with four columns raised on a two-stepped podium, surmounted by a cross finial; within the intercolumniation a second cross is prominently displayed, evoking the Christian church. The composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend XRISTANA PELIGIO running around the outer margin. The architectural rendering follows the standard Carolingian temple-type reverse convention established under Louis the Pious.
