Reverse description A large, stylised leonine head rendered in bold, deeply struck relief, facing left, with exaggerated mane rendered as sweeping linear strokes fanning outward from the face. The execution is characteristic of the rough, expressive die-cutting of 12th–13th century Polish bracteate coinage. The field is plain and unlettered, and a beaded border frames the design at the coin's irregular periphery. The image most likely represents a heraldic lion, an emblem associated with the Piast dynasty.
