Obverse description Bracteate type featuring a heraldic shield of Austria (barry of silver and gules) at center, surmounted by a crowned helmet with a distinctive trefoil-cluster crest composed of three rows of roundels or pellets arranged in a pyramidal form. The letters T and A appear in the field to the left and right of the shield respectively, serving as the mint abbreviation for Thann. The design is rendered in low relief typical of hammered bracteate coinage, with the entire composition contained within a slightly irregular round flan.
