Obverse description A crowned royal monogram 'S' (for Sigismundus) occupies the central field, surmounted by an elaborate Gothic crown with fleurs-de-lis. The letters S, P appear flanking the monogram in the field to the left and right. The design is rendered in a flat, bold relief typical of hammered Polish deniers of the early sixteenth century. The coin edge is irregular, consistent with hand-struck production.
