Obverse description Central field displays the quartered Hungarian royal shield, featuring the traditional Árpád stripes (barry of eight) in the first and fourth quarters and the patriarchal double cross on a triple mount in the second and third quarters, all within a beaded inner circle. The date 1531 appears prominently in the upper portion of the legend, flanking the shield. The Latin legend encircles the shield, reading clockwise from the upper left.
