Reverse description A large plain cross occupying the full field, dividing the reverse into four quarters, with a small secondary cross or crosslet positioned in the second (upper right) quarter, a design element serving as a mint or type differentiator. The cross arms extend nearly to the inner beaded border that circumscribes the field. The surrounding legend, reading VEDOMÉ CASTR in uncial lettering, identifies the place of issue as the castle of Vendôme.
