Reverse description A double cross with decorative crossbars rises from the base of the field, where two small crowned heads face each other in profile at the foot of the cross, a characteristic motif of Slavonian banovac coinage. Mintmark letters appear on either side of the upper arm of the cross. In the upper field, an empty six-pointed star occupies the left, while a crescent enclosing a central dot appears to the right. The design is enclosed within a beaded border.

Additional information

István Babonić served as Ban of Slavonia under Ladislaus IV — the Hungarian king whose reign was defined by chronic civil disorder, conflict with the papacy, and an infamous personal preference for Cuman company over his own court nobility. The Babonić family, a powerful Croatian-Slavonian magnate dynasty, operated with considerable autonomy during precisely these years of royal weakness. This denier belongs to a narrow two-year window tied directly to that vassal arrangement, making the dating unusually precise for a medieval provincial issue.
