Reverse description Central field displays a crozier (bishop's pastoral staff) flanked on either side by a pellet or I, with a V-shaped element positioned below the crozier, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding annular field bears a highly degenerate Latin legend reading ΛM - MECI, a debased form of the mint name Albi. The device and legend together reflect the ecclesiastical authority of the Bishop of Albi and the advanced schematisation typical of late 12th- to mid-13th-century feudal Albigensian coinage.
