| Obverse description | Central cross pattée enclosed within a raised inner circle, surrounded by a radiating pattern of wedge-shaped pellets or rays extending toward the irregular flan edge, evoking a wheel or sunburst motif. A blundered and partially legible Latin legend encircles the design, incorporating the name HENRICVS. The hammered flan is notably irregular and shows typical medieval fabric with uneven surfaces and patina consistent with long circulation. |

Henry V was the last Salian emperor, and Verona's mint operated under imperial grant during a period when the city was beginning to assert communal autonomy — a tension that would eventually strip emperors of direct monetary control in northern Italy altogether. These deniers continued to be struck in Henry's name long after his death in 1125, a practice common to Italian communal mints that used imperial names as legal fictions rather than dating conventions. The broad date range reflects that ambiguity precisely.
