Obverse description Central field features a pal (vertical bar) accosted on either side by three pellets, flanked by a sickle-shaped iron and a crosslet, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The design is characteristic of the immobilized Carolingian type struck in the name of King Louis. The surrounding legend runs clockwise within the outer border.
