Obverse description Crude bust of the bishop facing right, rendered in low relief in a primitive Romanesque style typical of feudal French episcopal coinage. The figure is depicted within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by the Latin legend +hVGVO:DeI:GRACIA (Hugo by the Grace of God) in uncial lettering. The portrait is heavily stylized, with only rudimentary facial features discernible due to the worn nature of this hammered billon issue. The field surrounding the bust shows characteristic irregularities associated with hand-struck medieval coinage.
