Reverse description A plain Greek cross occupying the central field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A circular legend reading REMIS CIVITAS (City of Reims) runs around the periphery between the beaded circle and the coin's irregular edge, in typical Carolingian minuscule letterforms. The design follows the standard layout of Carolingian and early Capetian ecclesiastical deniers struck at the Reims mint.
