Additional information

Hugh II of Blois died in 1307 without male issue, extinguishing the direct Châtillon line in the county. The denier coinage of his tenure reflects a lordship already in demographic and political decline — within a decade of his death, Blois had passed by inheritance to the house of Châtillon-Saint-Pol, beginning the county's gradual absorption into the French royal orbit.
