Obverse description Central plain cross with two pellets or floral petals ornaments in opposite angles of the cross, all within a beaded inner circle. The legend HVGO COMES (Count Hugh) runs around the periphery between the inner and outer borders, in Latin characters typical of eleventh-century feudal coinage.

Reverse description Central field features a stylized monogram or letter H flanked by pellets, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A small cross surmounts the inner circle at the top. The circumferential legend VERANVMIV, an abbreviated form of Vermandois, runs between the inner and outer beaded borders in Latin characters, consistent with hammered feudal deniers of the period.
