Obverse description A plain cross at center divides the inner field into four quarters, each containing a small symbol: a wedge, a pellet, a ring, and a second pellet respectively. The cross is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with a circular legend running in the outer annulus, rendered in a degenerate Carolingian script characteristic of late tenth-century Bavarian coinage.
