| Obverse description | Two facing busts depicted side by side in high relief, each crowned with a beaded diadem, rendered in the schematic Ottonian-Salian style typical of mid-eleventh century Rhenish coinage. The figures are shown from the shoulders upward, their garments indicated by incised drapery lines, and their faces portrayed with simplified but expressive features including stylized beards. A circular legend in Latin script runs around the periphery of the irregularly flan, partially off-flan due to the hammered production method.
