Obverse description Two facing busts depicted side by side in high relief, each crowned with a beaded diadem, rendered in the schematic Ottonian-Salian style typical of mid-eleventh century Rhenish coinage. The figures are shown from the shoulders upward, their garments indicated by incised drapery lines, and their faces portrayed with simplified but expressive features including stylized beards. A circular legend in Latin script runs around the periphery of the irregularly flan, partially off-flan due to the hammered production method. The overall composition reflects the archaic, linear artistic conventions of the period.

Reverse description The reverse field displays a bold, widely-spaced Latin inscription arranged in two lines across the coin's surface, referencing the archiepiscopal authority of Cologne, under whose ecclesiastical jurisdiction the Remagen mint operated. The letters are rendered in the characteristic angular, primitive epigraphic style of Salian-period deniers, with a cross or cross-like element serving as a word divider within the legend. The surrounding marginal legend is partially visible along the border of the irregular flan. The flat, open field and the prominent lettering are typical of the functional, non-figural reverse types associated with Rhenish ecclesiastical mints of this era.
